kpix 5's anne makovec has the very latest from the john muir medical center. she is live in concord this morning. good morning. >>> reporter: a disturbing situation when it comes to these two shootings in less than a week in the same area. we got reports that one person who was shot came here to john muir medical center in concord last night. this all started though at around midnight in the bay point area. this was the area of san marco boulevard and highway 4. officers blocked off the area for this investigation. again, it happened after midnight. the driver came to the medical center in concord. we don't know the person's condition at this point. this also sounds similar to a shooting along highway 4, the same area on saturday 2.2 miles away exactly when 20-year-old tomas mendez was killed on his way home from work. somebody shot at him while he was driving east on highway 4 near bailey road. we don't know if those two incidents are connected. we are waiting for more information. anne makovec kpix 5. >>> travelers in the south bay can now use ridesharing se

kpix 5's anne makovec is learning one of the suspects may have shot himself. anne. >> reporter: yeah. it was a lot for police to sort out here. they found a trail of blood on bartlett street here in the mission. and a high-powered gun. they eventually did make two arrests and you can see they still have the street blocked off here as the investigation continues. it all started with an armed robbery at 3 a.m. at least two robbers pulled a gun on a man walking down the street. they took his wallet and cell phone and then they ran off. police just happened to be in the area at the time and they arrested those men as they were running away. police say one of those robbers accidentally shot himself in the leg at some point. he is now in the hospital. the victim, the man robbed, was not hurt. and police are crediting good old-fashioned patrols for the fact that only the suspect was hurt. >> while most people are asleep in their bed we have officers out here patrolling the streets and this happened to be at the right place at the right time this morning. >> reporter:

kpix 5's anne makovec is at the scene where police just gave an update. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. still a lot of questions about what happened here. you can see the roadway blocked off at bartlett and 23rd. this is in the mission district. it started with an armed robbery at about 3 a.m. at least 2 robbers pulled a gun on a man who was just walking down the street. they took his wallet and his cell phone, and then they ran off. police just happened to be in the area. and they arrested those two guys. police then found a pool of blood nearby here on bartlett street, a trail of blood. it looked like somebody had been shot. police think there may have been a third suspect who might have shot himself. they are at the hospital now checking to see if any shooting victims had come in. they also recovered a gun and it's a fairly high-powered gun. they describe it as a mac-10 machine gun that somebody had thrown over a fence on bartlett street. they are not sure how that gun was connected to the crime. but they think it was. they are waiting to find
